Nice post. I agree with all these, except #3. I see Data Engineers too frequently removed from the business to see and understand how their data is used. However perhaps that's just my narrow view. In an ideal world they would get to see it as you describe.
I've seen data engineers and data teams, in general, being removed from the business, too. This often happens when data teams act like support teams and gate every request through the ticketing system.
Teams who foster close cross-team collaboration become trusted business partners. In my experience, this is a prevalent trait for successful data-driven organisations.
